The home of that great historical mathematician, Pythagoras, Samos is an island in the southern Aegean that actually lies less than 2km from the coast of Turkey, making it an ideal base if you want to explore further. Samos has a huge range of landscape; pine forests, olive groves, rocky coves, sandy bays and stretches of unspoilt countryside dotted with wonderful arrays of wild flowers. The village resorts are traditional and offer restful holidays among beautiful surroundings, whilst larger towns such as Samos Town provide plenty of liveliness for a change of pace.
