On the extreme west coast of the island sits Menorca's old capital Ciudadela, a visit here is a real eye opener it demonstrates that there is more to the island than lazy days spent of the beach. Rich in architectural heritage it is well placed for exploring the island's famous archaeological remains - even today residents are discovering remains under the old quarter.

The city is a fascinating blend of medieval and Arab flavours, the depth of history, culture and nightlife is drawing more visitors to the city every year. As a port, Ciudadela does not have any beaches of its own, the nearest is at Cala n Blanes, or a little further along the north coast is Binimel-la. Both beaches boast white sands gently shelving into clear waters that are perfect for swimming and the many sports that are facilitated there.

Renowned for its wide selection of restaurants, many of which specialise in seafood and paella, head up the cliffs for some unique establishments built directly into the rock face, looking out over the sea. Its rich ambience make it increasingly popular with travellers, Ciudadela has all the ingredients for a fun and unique holiday in Menorca.
