On the peninsula directly north of the capital, Sliema is a small Maltese fishing town that has developed into a thriving resort. The focus is on The Strand, a broad promenade brimming with shops that are among the best on the island.

This coastline and neighbouring St Julian's constitutes one of Malta's main coastal resorts, the beach is rocky with unusual flat platforms for sunbathing and plenty of smooth rocks shelving out to sea - the sheltered waters attract all kinds of sea wildlife and so make it a great spot for snorkelling and scuba diving.

When night falls the thriving resort offers a fantastic choice of cosmopolitan restaurants that are mellow in mood, floorshows and ballroom dancing are a fabulous way to end an evening - for clubbers there are a number of clubs playing the latest music.

Sliema has excellent beach facilities, superb restaurants and is a shopper's paradise; surely it has something for everyone and is a perfect resort for a package holiday in Malta.
