Northern Malta's coast is very rugged, with lots of dramatic maritime walks over scrub and rocky headland with excellent views out to sea. But, when the rocks subside, the beaches offer a welcome respite. Even when there's no sand, there's usually a smooth rocky ledge perfectly positioned for a spot of sunbathing or, ideally, for diving off.
