Holidays to Ocho Rios

Ochee (that's Ocho Rios to you) is the second major tourist town on the north coast with a laid-back, easygoing charm which captivates all who choose to visit.

It's a major cruise port and, as such, the shops here are a notch up from other resorts - with Caribbean emeralds, sports watches and designer boutiques all for sale in swish malls. The area's not short of history, either. Firefly, the Jamaican residence of Noel Coward, looks down loftily from the hills behind it, while Sun Valley plantation is just one of the many tourist-friendly plantations worth an afternoon of your holiday time.

Dine by the waterfront at any one of a series of seafood, Jamaican or international restaurants - they're all reliable, and offer good value. Dunns River, and its chaotic falls, is nearby - probably the most fun you can have anywhere in Jamaica (in the daylight, at least).

The town's beach, an attractive curve of white sands, is near the cruise terminal - for more relaxation, head east or west of here and you'll find uninterrupted views of the deep blue sea, and cloudless sky. Ocho Rios is a likeable town, with tons of shops, bars and restaurants - so if you're after a Jamaican holiday with plenty of bustle, and good nightlife, this is a sure fire bet.
