Larger than all of the other Hawaiian Islands combined, and home to a number of ancient Hawaiian temples and the largest cowboy ranch in the country, the Big Island is big in more than one sense of the word. Not only does it provide all of the entertainment and excitement of the other islands, but also much more besides.

A holiday to Hawaii wouldn't be complete without a trip to the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, the Big Island, home to the world's most active volcano, Kilauea; or to the Parker Ranch, one of the oldest cowboy ranches in the U.S. which gives visitors a glimpse into the life of a Hawaiian cowboy (paniolo).

As well as an abundance of water activities such as deep sea fishing, snorkelling and kayaking, the whole family are bound to enjoy Dolphin Encounters where you can swim and interact with these beautiful creatures.

Shopping on the Big Island is diverse, with a large amount of shops selling locally produced food products, such as coffee and macadamia nuts, whilst there are also a number of spas specialising in traditional Hawaiian massage techniques should you need to unwind after a hard day exploring the island on your holiday to Hawaii.

If you are lucky enough to be on holiday on the Big Island during Easter, you will encounter the Merrie Monarch Festival, a week-long celebration of the art of the hula dance, for which the locals practice all year round. It is not to be missed!
