Tourism in the Czech Republic is largely focused on Prague, with its great museums, galleries, concerts and other attractions. Visitors have been pouring in and revelling in the accessibility of the Czech Republic since things changed with a thump in 1989. Veteran travellers, meanwhile, are often nostalgic about no longer having Prague to themselves. 

While Prague shakes with excitement, almost everything outside this astonishing city is still off the beaten tourist track and unspoiled. Many day trips are possible from Prague, including the great western spa towns and castles like Karlstejn. You won't be bored on a short break to Prague, you can pack a lot of exploring into a short break, charging through its compact network of lanes, passages and cul-de-sacs, or spend weeks meandering along and slowly savouring its sights.
