Nestled between the mountains and the sea, the village of Fodele is an ideal family holiday location, no matter where your interest may lie.

Built amidst the traditional orange and olive groves, Fodele is the birthplace of the great Cretian painter Domenikos Theotokopoulos in 1541 and the village hosts several statues in his memory and is a short distance from the main airport with its increasingly cheap and frequent flights.

There are two beaches at Fodele, one ideal for the more energetic who seek watersports and the second a haven for those with less strenuous agendas.

The surrounding area has plenty of cultural and natural interest, particularly an expedition to Agios Pantelehimon, a monastery situated about 5km from the village. A rewarding outing for the more hardy walker, the journey provides an opportunity to experience all aspects of the landscape, as the path winds it way along the Pantomantris river and through the forest which covers a large part of the area.

If a quite stroll is more to your liking, then the park, just off the village centre is an ideal place. Located between two orange groves, the sight and smell of Fodele is sure to make for a relaxing holday.
