Holidays to Elounda

Located on the North East coast of Crete, Elounda is a bustling town which manages to retain its traditional charm and still embrace modern life.

A popular holiday destination for the rich and famous, the increase in cheap flights and the wide variety of accommodation available ensures that everyone can now enjoy the delights Elounda has to offer.

As with much of the Cretian coast, Elounda has good quality beaches, including a man-made beach, perfect for lazing the day away. If you have more get-up-and-go, then you can take advantage of the numerous water sports on offer, including a good depth of water skiing and windsurfing.

For those of a more historical mind, a holiday to Eloundra wouldn't be complete without an excursion to the small island of Spinalonga, now officially renamed Kalidon. A popular boat trip destination, the island began life as a Venetian fortress, before ending its working life in 1957 as a leper colony! Laid open to the elements since that time, restoration work has now begun on the public buildings and houses and the island will long continue to retain its historical significance. 

Back in the village, the main square overlooks the beautiful waterfront, and is an ideal location to spend an evening dining out in the villages many tavernas, bars and restaurants.
