Nestled comfortably in the mountainside like a jewel in the crown the quaint little village of Mijas makes a wonderful choice for a package holiday in the Costa del Sol.

Ambling through the web of narrow cobbled streets it is easy to see why so many visitors decided to settle here, muse over the scores of writers and artists that also stayed over the years while you browse the many shops of locally produced works. Despite its huge appeal to tourists and settlers alike the village has managed to retain much of its traditional character and unmistakable relaxed way of life.

If you're on a cheap holiday in Mijas then head further north of the village where the streets turn into flights of steps, the higher you climb the cheaper the cafes and restaurants become and the more quiet they are, it's one of the best ways to avoid the floods of tourists during high season.
