Costa De La Luz locals think of their part of the world as the best-kept secret in Spain. Located right at the south west point of Spain, just to the east and south of Portugal, the region includes the most southerly point of mainland Europe, and remains virtually undeveloped in tourism terms.

The region is typically flat, and largely covered with scented pine trees inland, giving way at the coast to some of the softest golden sand you're likely to see anywhere. And most of the Costa De La Luz's resorts (though there aren't that many!) are basically pretty fishing villages that have welcomed small numbers of visitors into their world.

This beautiful area is unlikely to ever succumb to mass tourism in the way that other Spanish regions enthusiastically developed themselves a few decades ago. So if you're looking for a peaceful relaxing holiday among stunning surroundings without the crowds, then this might just be an ideal holiday destination for you.
