An exotic location, glorious sandy beaches and a whole range of nightlife options have made Sanya Bay at the foremost of China's beach resorts.

It's a modern development (actually a new suburb of the forward-thinking Sanya City) aimed at attracting the tourists of the world to this quite simply beautiful tropical location. And so as you'd expect there's plenty to do (the coral reef makes for superb diving, plus many watersports are available) and there's plenty to see - Hainan Island's landscapes include dramatic gorges and mountainous hills, whilst the Nanshan Museum offers a fascinating insight into traditional Chinese life, and the huge Buddha statue on a rocky outcrop just offshore will make it into many fashionable must-see lists very soon.
