Holidays to Sant Agnello

Another town on the Sorrento Peninsula and close to Sorrento itself - the town of Sant Agnello is named for the Baroque church which has an imposing campanile (or bell tower) and a set of impressive stairs leading up to the entrance. There is a local tradition of husbands asking the saint to intercede on behalf of their pregnant wives to ensure a good birth.

Today Sant Agnello is a small and welcoming town popular with holidaymakers from all over the world. Many people stay here in preference to bustling and busy Sorrento as it offers a more relaxed holiday setting. It has a good range of hotels that cater for all budgets and attractive beach - Marinella - which has a dramatic and scenic setting, between cliffs and overhung by a terrace.

Sant Agnello would make a great base to explore the region - make yourself an itinerary that includes Positano and Amalfi, once simply attractive fishing villages and now well known tourist hotspots. Many people choose to visit Herculaneum and Pompeii while staying in the region - visit these famous ruins to get a fascinating insight into the destructive power of a volcano. It'll make you regard Mount Vesuvius with respect!
