This region is one of the most popular holiday hotspots in Italy, and visitors invariably fall for its considerable charms. The Bay of Naples boasts some of the most beautifully dramatic coastlines in the world, where vertical cliffs plunge into the blue seas to provide countless stunning viewpoints out over the Gulf of Naples.
Of course, as well as being an area of outstanding natural beauty, the Bay of Naples is home to two of the most famous landmarks in Italy: Mount Vesuvius and the ancient city of Pompeii. Pompeii was decimated 2,000 years ago after a violent Vesuvius eruption, and the modern excavations are well worth taking a day to explore.
Other popular sites here include Sorrento (a well-established holiday resort), the 40km long Amalfi Drive that stretches for virtually along the Bay of Naples entirety, and of course the historic city of Naples itself.
